Lewisham school triumphs in the British Land finals

Myatt Gardens Primary School, Lewisham, held their nerve to win nail-biting victories in both semi-final and final to lift the British Land Trophy at Lord’s.

After a last over win against 2009 champions, Canonbury School, Islington, they went on to beat Gateway School, Westminster, by just 13 runs in a knife-edge encounter which could have gone either way until the last few balls.

“Every year the standard gets higher...”

John Sullivan, General Manager, Capital Kids Cricket, said: "It was a really exciting and enjoyable day for all the children as well as parents and teachers. Every year the standard gets higher and once again the competitiveness and sportsmanship of these youngsters was there for all to see."

And after an exhausting two hours meeting all the players and signing autographs, Ebony-Jewel Rainford-Brent, another star of England’s World Cup winning Women’s Cricket Team, said: “I think this is a tremendous achievement by Capital Kids Cricket and British Land.
