If you want to help Capital Kids Cricket, either actively or financially, in its determination to rescue the game for half a million
children in the state schools of central London, or if you would like to be kept in touch with what we are doing, why not join
The Heavy Rollers Club?
You will be in good company. Following the sad death of his predecessor, Lord (Colin) Cowdrey, who was an indefatigable champion of the cause,
we are delighted to announce that Clive Lloyd, former West Indies captain, batsman and cricket ambassador extraordinary, has agreed to become
our Head Groundsman.
Before accepting the post, Clive Lloyd's only misgiving was that he would be regarded as a figurehead and not allowed to play an active role
in the club's activities. He was quickly and positively reassured!
Among his honorary assistant groundsmen are the present and former test stars:
Mike Brearley, Roland Butcher, Donald Carr, Mike Denness, Ted Dexter, G.H.G.Doggart, Paul Downton, John Edrich, Keith Fletcher, Angus Fraser,
Mike Gatting, Graham Gooch, David Gower, Tom Graveney, Tony Lewis, Brian Luckhurst, Alec
Stewart, Bob Willis and Don Wilson.
To join the assistant groundstaff of The Heavy Rollers Club all you have to do is send your name and address and a once-and-for-all
life membership of £10, or whatever greater figure you would care to contribute, by cheque made payable to Capital Kids Cricket, and
address it to:
William Greaves, Steward,
The Heavy Rollers Club,
13 Canonbury Grove,
London N1 2HR
You can also email us at capitalkids@beeb.net and you will be kept regularly up to date with our
activities, as well as continuing to have access to our News update page here on www.capitalkidscricket.co.uk.
